You always know the rate up front, and we give you a time estimate before we start.
What kind of jobs count as handyman work versus a full remodel?
Handyman work covers light repairs and small installs a single technician can usually finish in a couple of hours: mounting a TV, patching drywall, fixing a sticking door, installing a light fixture, assembling furniture, caulking a tub or hanging shelving. Larger projects like a full bathroom renovation or a kitchen remodel fall under our remodeling services instead. If a job needs more than a visit or two, we tell you honestly before continuing.
Is there a minimum charge or a minimum number of hours?
No. Our handyman rate is $125 per hour with no hidden minimums, so you are billed for the time actually spent on your home, not a padded minimum call charge. Most single tasks still land around one to two hours once travel and setup are factored in, and we always give you a realistic estimate before starting.
Does the $125 per hour rate include materials?
The $125 per hour rate covers labor only. Materials such as the fixture you want installed, drywall compound, caulk or hardware are billed separately at cost. We walk you through expected material costs before we begin, so there are no surprises on the final bill.
Do you charge a travel fee?
Homes within our standard Westchester County service radius are not charged a travel fee. For addresses outside that radius, including parts of New York City and Connecticut, a small travel fee may apply and will always be disclosed before your appointment is confirmed.

Yes. J&J Remodeling is fully licensed and insured in New York State. Every handyman visit in Westchester County is backed by the same general liability insurance that covers our full remodeling projects, and we are happy to provide proof of insurance before we start.
